Last Mile Together Returns 17th - 19th of April 2026

A Virtual Fundraising Weekend Supporting Emma Ward

“This treatment gives me hope
– but I can only reach it with your help.”

Last Mile Together (LMT) began during lockdown as a community driven fundraising initiative supporting Cancer Research UK. Inspired by Nicholas Loveridge and powered by a close group of friends, the event brought people together, lifted spirits, got us all moving and raised over £20,000 for vital cancer research.

Now, in April 2026, Last Mile Together is back for a special running/walking weekend dedicated to raising urgent funds for Emma Ward.

This year, LMT is relaunching in partnership with Headstrong Against Cancer; a new fundraising group created by Daniel Lamyman and David Wilson. Daniel was diagnosed with a grade four Glioblastoma in 2017, one of the most aggressive forms of brain cancer. After radiotherapy and chemotherapy, he was given a prognosis of just 12–18 months.
Nearly nine years later, thanks to pioneering treatments and unwavering support, he is still here, using his experience to raise awareness and help other families fighting for more time.

Supporting Emma Ward

Emma Ward, 46, is a mum, wife, and hugely loved member of her community. She is currently facing her own battle with an aggressive grade four Glioblastoma (astrocytoma) brain tumour. Since her diagnosis in 2025, Emma has already endured awake brain surgery, radiotherapy, and months of chemotherapy. She has done everything asked of her but NHS treatment options have now been exhausted.

There is still hope.

A lifeextending immunotherapy treatment at the IOZK clinic in Germany could offer Emma precious additional years with her husband Dan and their two daughters. But the cost (around £150,000) is far beyond what Emma can fund alone.

This event aims to help her access that treatment as quickly as possible.

In Emma’s own words:

“I never imagined I would be writing something like this, but I’m fighting to stay alive for my family. My girls deserve their mum for longer, and I’m doing everything I can to make that happen. This treatment gives me hope – but I can only reach it with your help.”

Every mile. Every registration. Every share. It all matters.

Please encourage friends, family, colleagues, anyone, anywhere, to join in.

All we ask is that you wear your tee or beanie, snap a photo, and tag us on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn to spread the word.

Thank you in advance for being part of something that genuinely changes lives.
